There’s Still a Lot of Summer at Limestone Township Library District

Our Summer Reading Program-Find Your Voice ended on Saturday with our Outdoor Movie Finale. But that doesn’t mean summer can’t be fun without the library.

There are still books to read, movies to discover, and games to check out. We have large yard games, such as Giant Connect Four and Jenga. We have classic games of Dr. Seuss’s ABC, Peanuts in a Bag counting game, and Poppa’s Pizza Topple. And you can find soon-to-be-favorites with Raceway 57 and Fossil Island.

There’s still plenty of lazy days ahead in which you can find a new book to read while sitting in a hammock or under a shady tree. Books on our displays are meant to be discovered and checked out.

Our popular program, S.T.E.M.onade Stand take-and-make projects, are available on Wednesdays. Every week we will have a different project that kids can put together with the help of an adult as needed. On July 19, the project is a flashlight. Supplies are limited, come get your project before they are all gone.

Storytime takes place on Wednesdays at 10:15 A.M. with Mr. William reading a picture book or two and leading us through a fun craft.

 Writer's Group will be held on Tuesday, July 25 at 6:30 P.M. A writer's group is a community of writers who come together to share their work, provide feedback, and support each other in their writing endeavors. It can be a great way to improve your writing skills, get inspiration, and connect with other writers.

 Come for fun on Thursday, July 27 from 5:30 P.M. – 7:30 P.M. for our Family Video Game Party. We will have on hand Super Smash Bothers Ultimate along with Mario Kart and Guitar Hero. Feel free to bring your own Nintendo Switch and joycons! Snacks will be provided.

 You don’t have to have a library card to attend our programming. But if you want to check out books, the process for getting a card is simple. Stop in with your Driver’s license or State ID and a piece of mail to verify your address. Persons under the age of 18 need a parent’s signature. If you live outside of Limestone Township but not in another library district (such as Fossil Ridge or Kankakee), you may need to pay a non-resident fee.
