The Holidays are here at Limestone Township Library District

As the holiday season draws near the end, Limestone Township Library District has special hours we will be closed to honor that time.

Please be aware that the library will be closed the following days in observance of the New Year’s holiday: Friday, December 29; and Monday, January 1, 2024,

But on the days we are open, we still have plenty of books to check out. There are games and movies at the ready for loan so you can plan fun activities during the school break time. Our Take-and-Make table is filled with easy crafts, one in each bag with all of the pieces necessary, which you can take home and make at a time best suited for you.

We also have ugly sweater craft sheets that you can create using our craft supplies on our Maker Space Cart or take home to create an ugly sweater with your own craft supplies.

There is always fun waiting to happen at the library.

Help Fill the Mitten Tree at Limestone Township Library District

Help Fill the Mitten Tree at Limestone Township Library District

Every year during the Christmas season, the library is filled with decorated Christmas trees. From our rustic tree in the front lobby to the giant tree in the meeting room, everywhere you look has a decorated tree.

But there is one tree we do not decorate. It sits in the main lobby waiting for decorations. That’s because this is our Mitten Tree.

Every year we fill this tree with mittens and hats and scarves that are donated to the Herscher School District so no one has to go without warm winter wear. We are lucky to have patrons, members of the community, and staff who donate these items every year so we can give them away.

Currently we have a ‘Din Grogu’ hat along with some gloves on the tree but they need company. Help decorate our tree with Mittens, Hats, Gloves, and scarves to help keep kids warm this winter. You can bring in items during library hours and leave them at the tree or give them to staff at the front desk.
