Limestone Township Library District Presents Summer Reading

Limestone Township Library District Presents Summer Reading

At Limestone Township Library District, we are planning an excitement filled summer with our reading program called ‘Where the Adventure Begins’ with Lucky the Library Dragon.

Because of that, we will not have any programs until June 8 since there is much to get ready. But the library still has much to offer.

It is possible for patrons and community members to come in to check out materials, use the public access computers, make copies, and send off faxes or scan documents to email. Our die-cut center is open for use as well as our cold laminator machine. Copies, faxes, and the laminator machine have fees associated with their use.

Registration for Summer Reading began Monday, May 20 and community members can register through June 20. Registration must be done in person. At that time, participants will receive an information packet that includes a reading log, program calendar for June and July, and information regarding ‘About The Realm’ activities.

When you register, make sure to sign up for our Kick-off Movie Day on Saturday, June 8, starting at 12:00 noon. We plan to have popcorn and drinks along with fun crafts to go with our movie –Lightyear.

For more information, call the Library at 815-939-1696.

Check out our program calendar when you stop in.

The library will be closed Monday, May 27 in observance of Memorial Day. We will re-open on Tuesday, May 28 at 10:00 A.M.

The Friends of the Library plan to meet on Tuesday, May 28 at 6:30 P.M. They will discuss various ways they can help the library in the Meeting Room. New members are always welcomed.

Maybe you have always wanted to try container gardening but never felt comfortable enough to do it. Come to Limestone Township Library District on Wednesday, May 15 at 6:30 P.M. to hear Holly Froning speak on creating a container garden in your own back yard.

Froning is the Master Gardener and Master Naturalist Coordinator at the University of Illinois Extension Office, serving in this role for many years. She will explain the different types of containers, soil mediums, and plants that can work for container gardening. Then you can take that knowledge to work at creating your own container garden.

Discover the Various Services at Limestone Township Library District

Discover the Various Services at Limestone Township Library District

Are you in the middle of a project that needs a little more help from an outside source?

You can always find that help at the library.

We have helped people make copies of newspaper article or obituaries for memory books for family members. Sometimes quilters come in looking to have a pattern increased in size so they can have a larger picture to work off for paper piecing. Sometimes people are looking specific tax forms that cannot be found on our turn racks.

We also help with getting important papers sent by fax or scanned into emails.

Don’t forget that we have public access computers as well. This is helpful when you have a document in your email but it refuses to print from your phone for whatever reasons.

One way or another, we can help you on that project to get it to the next step.

We do charge .25¢ for black and white copies, .50¢ for color copies. Faxes cost $1.50 per page, and email scans are free. Public access computer usage is free of charge. All of these services are open to the public, not just patrons of the library. But while you’re in the building, see about getting your own library card.

For more information, call the Library at 815-939-1696.
