Summer Reading is a Big Hit at Limestone Township Library District!

Our Summer Reading Program-Find Your Voice ended on Saturday, July 15 with our Outdoor Movie Finale. The kids enjoyed an outdoor scavenger hunt and root beer floats before watching Super Pets with Dwayne ‘The Rock” Johnson. Finale attendees also were able to watch the drawing for our Summer Reading Prize Baskets, with three of the winners present!

Overall, 240 people signed up to participate in our Summer Reading Program – Find Your Voice! And those people logged in 180,090 minutes they spent reading. This surpassed our number of minutes read from last year.

We want to thank everyone who kept a reading log (and turned them in), came to events, did a stem-o-nade take-and-make project, and looked for Lucky dollars. You made our Summer Reading program a big success

There’s still plenty of lazy days ahead in which you can find a new book to read while sitting in a hammock or under a shady tree. Books on our displays are meant to be discovered and checked out.

What will you find in the library this week?

Check out our program calendar when you stop in.

Storytime takes place on Wednesdays at 10:15 A.M. with Mr. William reading a picture book or two and leading us through a fun craft.

Come for fun on Thursday, July 27 from 5:30 P.M. – 7:30 P.M. for our Family Video Game Party. We will have on hand Super Smash Bothers Ultimate along with Mario Kart and Guitar Hero. Feel free to bring your own Nintendo Switch and joycons! Snacks will be provided.

The Friends of the Library will meet on Tuesday, August 1 at 6:30 P.M. in the meeting room in the library. Everyone is welcomed to attend. Come and find out how you can make a difference in your community.

Adult Book Club meets on Tuesday, August 9 at 6:30 P.M. This month we are reading The Scoop by Fern Michaels. Copies of the book are available at the Front Desk.

You don’t have to have a library card to attend our programming. But if you want to check out books, the process for getting a card is simple. Stop in with your Driver’s license or State ID and a piece of mail to verify your address. Persons under the age of 18 need a parent’s signature. If you live outside of Limestone Township but not in another library district (such as Fossil Ridge or Kankakee), you may need to pay a non-resident fee.
