Programming Fun at Limestone Township Library District

 

Limestone Township Library District is planning to host programming fun in the next few weeks.

On Tuesday, April 22, United Way is coming to the library in the afternoon for their Day of Action to beautify the grounds of the library. Their plan is to help make our patio look more inviting. We can’t wait to see what these volunteers will do.

Our Writer’s Group meets on Monday, April 28 at 6:30 P.M. Our meeting has special guest, local author Nancy Ruda, who coming to speak on publishing her first book – Outside In. If you are not a member of the writer’s group and would like to attend, please call the library at 815-939-1696 to register.

On Tuesday, April 29 we are happy to host Jorie Walters of the Kankakee County Museum for a special evening historic presentation on Gangsters in Chicago. The program begins at 6:00 P.M. If you are interested in attending, please make sure to register at the front desk or call at 815-939-1696.

Join us for a fun Junk Journal Scrapbook group on Friday, April 18th, from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM! Bring your projects, and feel free to share any supplies you’d like; some materials will also be available for use. We look forward to crafting together! This program is for Young Adults and Adults

 

Join us on Saturday, April 19th from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM for YA Volunteering to create heartfelt Mother's Day cards for seniors in our community! This volunteering event is a wonderful opportunity to spread joy and brighten the day of those who may appreciate a personal touch. All supplies will be provided, so just bring your creativity and enthusiasm! 

 

Calling kids in 1st through 5th grades for Youth Craft Night on Monday, April 21st from 5 PM to 6 PM, where we will be making creative handprint flowers! It's a fun opportunity to unleash your creativity and make something special.

 

Join us for a family movie day on Saturday, April 26th at 12:00 PM, where we'll enjoy the animated adventure "Big Hero 6." Don't miss out on the fun and excitement! Make sure to register ahead of time.

 

Writer's Group is a great opportunity to share your work, receive feedback, and connect with fellow writers. On Monday, April 28 we are pleased to welcome Nancy Ruda who recently published her first book, Outside In. Ruda will speak on her journey to getting her book published and writing habits. If you would like to attend, please register ahead of time.

Come join Jorie Walters for an engaging presentation on the Gangsters of the Chicago area on Tuesday, April 29th at 6:00 PM. Limestone Township Library District Hosts Al Capone Coffee and Friends

 

In our county, we hear various stories about our connection to Al Capone. But which ones are true? Where did he have outlets for bootlegging operations? Which clubs belonged to him? Did he have a safe house in the county?

Find out at the next Coffee and Friends program on Friday, March 14 at 10:30 A.M. when Jorie Walters of the Kankakee County Museum presents “Al Capone in Kankakee County.”

Walters is the Research Coordinator at the Museum and comes to us with a plethora of knowledge.

Enjoy a hot drink and a sweet treat while listening to an interesting discussion.

Registration is required, you can stop in at the library or call us at 815-939-1696 to register for this fun and informative program.

Join Colleen on Thursday, March 6th at 6:00 PM in the library meeting room for a relaxing yoga session. No experience is needed! Remember to bring your yoga mat.

We are having an Adult Craft Night on Monday, March 10, starting at 6:00 P.M. This month we are getting ready for spring as we make Floral Paper Collages. Space is limited. There is no fee for this program, all supplies are provided.

Join us for Adult Book Club Tuesday, March 11th at 6:30 PM as we have a discussion on Erik Larson's The Devil in the White City. Books are available at the front desk. 

We invite yarn crafters to our Crochet and Knitting Club on Thursday, March 13, 6:00 P.M. till 7:30 P.M. This is a time to bring in your current project and work with others, share your knowledge, and ask questions about a technique someone else is using in their project.

 

Stop in the library on Friday, March 14 for our latest take and make craft. Pick up a kit to make a Shamrock Man that you can work on at a time best for you and your family. Supplies are limited, pick yours up before they are all gone. 

 

Celebrate the Luck of the Irish on Monday, March 17 when the library hosts a St. Patrick’s Scavenger Hunt and Craft time. From 5:00 till 6:00 P.M. kids in grade school can look for clues from our local leprechaun.

 

Join us for a magical storytime on Tuesday, March 18 at 6:30 P.M. Ms. Heather will read a story that will be followed by a fun and creative craft activity! Let your imagination soar as you listen to enchanting tales and then bring them to life with your own masterpiece. You can even come in your pajamas.

 

Have you seen Junk Journals and wanted to make one but wasn’t sure how to do it? Find out by registering for our Scrapbooking/Junk Journal class on Friday, March 21 from 11:00 A.M. till 12:30 P.M. Supplies are provided. There is no fee for this program
