Discover Our E-Resources at Limestone Township Library District

Discover Our E-Resources at Limestone Township Library District

Have you tried our e-resources?

At Limestone Township Library District, having a library card gives you access to a variety of e-resources on our website!

Like what you ask?

Let’s start with Mango Languages. This program helps you learn foreign languages in case you are planning to travel across the seas or over the border.

Then there is World Book Online. The online encyclopedia breaks up their information into suitable bites for age-appropriate groups.

Tumblebooks features pictures books that you can choose to have read to you or that you can read aloud.

And then there is Educate Station, a teaching tool for parents in many subjects and grade levels that provides lesson plans and worksheets.

These resources require your library card number.

But our last one does not. Free DVM Practice Tests helps you study for the written driver’s test with samples for your car, motorcycle, or CDL license. Anyone can use this free site from the State of Illinois.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the library at 815-939-1696.

Limestone Township Library District Offering Food for Fines

Limestone Township Library District Offering Food for Fines

Sometimes due dates at the library get away from us. We forget when to bring in that book or movie. Or they get hidden under papers or pillows or the dog. It has happened to everyone.

But now you have the opportunity to pay off some of those fines while doing good for others.

From now until Monday, September 30. Limestone Township Library District is accepting canned goods to pay off your fines. Each canned good brought into the library counts as $1.00 towards a Limestone Township Library District fine. You can bring in a maximum of ten canned goods for $10.00 to be taken off of your fine. Please check the expiration dates on the canned good before bringing them in as we cannot accept expired items.

The canned goods donation can only be used towards late fee fines that are from Limestone Township Library District, they cannot be applied to fines from other libraries.

We are donating the canned goods to Harbor House whose mission is to empower individuals, families, and communities through domestic violence programs, advocacy, and prevention.

National Library Card Sign-Up Month at Limestone Township Library District

National Library Card Sign-Up Month at Limestone Township Library District

During National Library Card Sign-Up month, you might be wondering what all you can get with that card.

Many of our patrons can tell you it’s about finding stories about places and people they may never meet in person. Some might talk about how great it is to be able to check out books that you have heard about but do not own yourself. And even if your local library doesn’t own the book or item you are looking for, they can reach beyond their walls to other libraries’ collections to find your desired item.

But a library also gives you opportunities to learn new skills, to utilize our copier/fax machine, or get online through our public access computers.

A library card is your key to an arsenal of resources.

If you live in Limestone Township, you need to bring your driver’s license and a piece of mail with your address on showing proof of residency to get a card. If you live in the non-residents areas, you will need to pay an annual fee for your library card that is equal to the average amount of taxes paid by Limestone Township residents.

If you are not certain if you live within Limestone Township or in the Non-resident area, call the library and we will verify what you need to do to get a library card.

For the month of September, young bookworms between the ages of 5 through 15 years of age can receive a FREE 8" pizza coupon to Monical's Pizza when they sign up for a new library card or renew their existing card. The coupons expire on September 30, 2024 so hurry in. For more information, call us at 815-939-1696.

Check out our upcoming programing.

Drop in for a time of sipping coffee and visiting with others when we host Coffee and Friends on Friday, September 20 from 10:00 A.M. till 12:00 Noon. During this time Staff will explain how the Prairiecat Mobile App works on your smart phone while enjoying some coffee and a sweet roll. Please register so we can make sure to have enough for everyone.

Drop in to build whatever your imagination can dream up using our Legos during our Open Lego Build on Saturday, September 21 between 11:00 A.M. – 2:00 P.M. We will have the Legos out so that anyone can drop in to try to build a castle or a tall tower or anything your imagination can dream up. No registration necessary, open to all ages.
